  • The Scientific Committee will consider each submission and their decision will be final. All abstracts received will be acknowledged and authors will receive an acceptance or a rejection letter via email by 30 June 2022
  • Abstracts will be published in the South African Journal of Sports Medicine
  • Only unpublished and under-review work will be considered.
  • Please note that authors of accepted abstracts and presenters of accepted workshops are not exempt from payment and must be registered delegates by 14 July 2022 otherwise their abstract or workshop allocation may be forfeited.
Instructions to Authors of Abstracts
  1. Each abstract must clearly state the following:a. Abstract title (the title of the abstract must not exceed 25 words, and must be unbolded and in sentence case, not CAPS) b. List of the author(s) (first and last name for each). The name of the presenting author must appear first in the list of authors. Do not include qualifications. c. Affiliation of the author(s) d. Contact details of the first author (mobile number, e-mail address)
  2. Abstracts must be typed in English, single line spacing, Arial, font size 12
  3. The body of the text must not exceed 350 words (this excludes the information listed in point 1 and references)
  4. Please adhere to the following format:a. Background: should be brief, informative, and set the scene for the study b. Methodology: include a description of sample/participants and research methodology, including statistical analysis c. Results: outline the findings of the study supported by statistics as appropriate. Provide relevant data aligned to the aims and conclusions. Do not use figures, graphs, or tables in the abstract. A short discussion may be added if appropriate d. Conclusion: provide a take-home message or summarise your findings
All accepted abstracts that do not adhere to the specific format will not be published.
